Dresden Grosser Garten miniature railway

A miniature railway running for 5.6 km (3½ miles) in the Grosser Garten on the eastern edge of Dresden city center. It was developed by youth organisations of the former GDR (German Democratic Republic and that tradition continues today and is run (very efficiently!) by children volunteers. There are five stations with departures every 15 - 30 minutes. The railway's top speed is 15 km/h or about 9 m.p.h., and a full circuit of the park takes 30 minutes. Fun if it's warm and dry!
